The Company La Obscurite is based on the french word for "The Obscure" or "The Darkness" (Obscurité). The product being sold is Coffee although it also reaches to coffee memorabilia like cups, mugs, etc. In creating the basis of the logo and branding the team established the theme for the company would be based on a dark/goth art-style. Initially playing around with the idea of making the logo difficult
to read at first pass to make it so someone has to stay focused on the packaging for longer (Much the same way Metal Albums are illegible). Ultimately a product should be recognizable though so the design ended up being easier to read than first pass designs.
